Get To Know: SkiDUCK
What is the purpose of SkiDUCK?
SkiDUCK (Skiing and Snowboarding for Disadvantaged and Underprivileged Children and Older Kids) is dedicated to enriching the lives of disadvantaged and at-risk youth by teaching and sharing they joys of skiing and snowboarding.
How does SkiDUCK fulfill its mission?
SkiDUCK provides FREE skiing and snowboarding for kids who otherwise may never have the opportunity to experience the beauty of the mountains, or the radness of skiing and riding! Each winter, SkiDUCK provides over 1,000 kids with one or more days on the slopes. Based in Lake Tahoe California, SkiDUCK partners with over a dozen resorts in nine states from coast to coast. Volunteers work with local youth clubs, like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Clubs and more at-risk groups to open the wilderness and great winter outdoors to kids-in-need. At SkiDUCK, kids in need shred free!
How would SkiDUCK benefit from and/or use additional monetary support?
SkiDUCK is an entirely volunteer-based non-profit (no salaries!), so ALL donations go directly to our kids ski and snowboard programs. For an average of $20 per visit, SkiDUCK provides free lift tickets, rentals, lessons, gloves, wrist guards, goggles, helmets, insurance and sometimes lunch or transportation… the BEST value ski day anywhere in the country! Additional donations will help us bring more kids to the slopes this season!
